David M. Howell

David has spent 35years in the fast-paced world of advertising, creating campaigns for some of the most renowned agencies in Chicago, including Ogilvy, FCB, DDB, and LKH&S. His deep experience in storytelling and creative communication has shaped his approach to and knack for vivid imagery and emotional when crafting historical fiction.

Outside the office, David moonlighted on stage with Second City, honing his wit through improv comedy and learning the fine art of thinking fast, developing characters, and imagining scenarios. That background in performance infuses his writing with sharp dialogue, authentic emotion, and a strong sense of place.

Now retired, David has traded the bustle of the advertising world for the serene surroundings of South Carolina, where he enjoys time with his wife and family. In his downtime, he plays the violin, finding peace and inspiration through music.

NO QUARTER is his debut historical fiction novel, inspired by a lifelong passion for the 18th century and the untold stories of those who lived through it.

Beyond the world of publishing, David has also written several screen plays. ROOM TO PLAY a comedy about Ann Dinardi who, as a single woman in the 1950s, opened her home to troubled college boys — and in the process she helps several become NBA legends.
